Who is Andrea?
Andrea is a Norwegian lady who has spent the last 5 happy years in London town where she studied BA (Hons) Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. She specialised in knitted textiles and has since worked with fashion knitwear as well as involving herself in collaborative art projects. Andrea is particularly interested in sustainable design and innovation within design and craft. She recently joined a Sustainable design start-up, where she is currently involved as knitwear designer on a project collaborating with Wool Alpaca artisans in Peru.
Andrea is also currently completing a part-time study in Jewellery design. In the future she is looking to work within the field of Textiles and Jewellery design – with a focus on sustainable methods and materials.
She is a happy and communicative person with close to finite patience. Andrea is an active yogi and has recently discovered the joys of mediation. She enjoys keeping herself active and engages in many sorts of physical activities outside of her creative endeavours.
Capoeira (Brazilian martial art), dancing, ice-skating and music jams. Music is an important part of her life; she studied singing for many years and is currently learning the guitar.
Andrea is of multicultural origin and has lived in four different countries throughout her life. She grew up in Oslo, Norway where she lived until she as a teenager move to her father’s home country Brazil. After three years on the Southern Hemisphere she relocated to London her current home.
What is her childcare experience?
From a young age Andrea has happily taken on babysitting jobs for friends and family She very much enjoys the company of children and finds their company engaging and pleasant! She has previously worked in two separate kindergartens in her hometown of Oslo, Norway. Andrea’s most recent experience working with children was during an Art project where her role included assisting with creative workshops for children in schools around London. The Arts Council funded the art project and the main focus was to engage children in both the creative process and the making of textile pieces to be used for an outdoors dance performance and art installation.

She is a confident believer in the potential of children in new setting and learning environments – and is happy to spend the evening reading books or taking them ice-skating!
